Through intergovernmental agreements with Clark County and the cities of Vancouver, Camas, Battle Ground, La Center, Ridgefield , Washougal, and Yacolt, the VHA is able to serve people in the entire Clark County area.
Clark County provides funding for many of our affordable housing developments through Community Development Block Grant (CDBG), HOME, HB2060 Low-Income Housing, and other funds. We work closely with the City of Vancouver on many development projects for planning and funding. The VHA Board of Commissioners is appointed by the Mayor of the City of Vancouver.
Like all housing authorities in the state, the VHA is chartered by the State of Washington. The VHA also uses funding from state sources for housing and community development. These funds are administered by the Washington State Housing Finance Commission and the Washington State Department of Community, Trade, and Economic Development.
The VHA administers funding from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development to provide subsidized housing for low-income families, elderly people, and people with disabilities. The VHA also participates in the Low Income Housing Tax Credit program to fund affordable housing.
