CHANGES TO INCOME OR HOUSEHOLD COMPOSITION
You must immediately report changes to household income or composition in writing. You must have prior written permission from the VHA prior to adding any adult to your household. A Change of Circumstances form can be downloaded here.
In order to move, please give notice to your landlord in writing and provide a copy to the VHA no less than 20 days prior to the last day of the month in which you wish to move. If you are in a lease, your landlord must agree to let you out of your lease. A Mutual Lease Termination form can be downloaded here. You must be in good standing with the VHA and your landlord to move.
Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher-holders can find rental listings at http://vha.gosection8.com.
Your Section 8 voucher can be used anywhere in the country where there is a housing authority that will accept it. This is called porting. The rules for porting are the same as for another move (see above).
The VHA will inspect your unit before you move in and at least once every two years thereafter. Your property manager may inspect the unit more frequently. If you have a maintenance concern, please contact your property owner/manager. If you believe your unit no longer meets HQS standards you may request a special inspection by contacting your Voucher Team.
If you are a disabled person and you need an accommodation to allow equal access to our programs, please contact your voucher team. If you do not know who to call, you can access a staff directory here.

You can read the VHA's Administrative Plan which outlines policies and regulations for the Section 8 program here.
If you are aware of fraud in a housing program, please let us know. You can download a reporting form here. You may also call 360-694-2501 and tell the receptionist you wish to report fraud. We ask that you provide as much information as possible. Although our budget does not allow for a fraud investigator, we will look into your report as much as possible. Because of confidentiality rules, we will not be able to report back to you on the outcome of your report.
